No fan of the Cthulhu Mythos will want to miss this opportunity to acquire this classic Call of Cthulhu boardgame, affectionately known as “Arkham Horror”

Arkham Horror

Arkham Horror is extraordinarily complicated, and can be a very lengthy game, but it really is a ton of enjoyable. Investigators search Arkham and the realms beyond for clues, weapons, as well as other tools to fight the Ancient Ones.

What makes Arkham Horror such a fantastic game is the fact that the mechanics make it a constantly-shifting battle. The investigators can have one thing planned, and everyone knows what their part is going to be, and then suddenly a new impact happens, entirely shifting the dynamics of what is going on in the game. Teamwork, communication among the players, collaboration, and strategic preparing are all crucial for the group’s success.

Arkham Horror

Yet another excellent function of Arkham Horror is the fact that it can be played solo. Seriously, the best way to play Arkham Horror, the very FIRST step is to solo it first to get the hang of things :) It’s really beautiful when you play against Nyarlathotep.

As I mentioned, you will discover plenty of mechanics at work in Arkham Horror, and it assists to play via it a time or two to obtain employed to what’s going on. Ultimately, it’s fantastic to play with 4-5. And it makes a great addition for the Lovecraft collector!

It’s a game designed for a board game evening. Nevertheless, the game does a fairly solid job of capturing the feel of Lovecraft’s works, and for all those hours, you’ll feel like you are actually battling for your life.

Each and every time my game group plays this game, we come away exhausted, but in addition exhilarated. – Scott

The game contains the usual high-quality components used by Fantasy Flight Games. For 1 to 8 players, the game takes 2-3 hours to play (yeah right ;) !). If time is of value to you, you may wish to learn about the Arkham Horror card game, Elder Sign.

  • Takes about 3 hours to play

Merchants & Marauders lets you live the life of an influential merchant or a dreaded pirate in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy.

The game features a unique trade system and a thematic combat system, allowing for critical decisions and intense excitement.

Will your captain gain eternal glory and immense wealth or find his wet grave under the stormy surface of the Caribbean Sea?

List Price: $ 64.99

Price: $ 46.00

Merchants and Marauders

Simply put, Merchants and Marauders is an adventure game. One that will take your imagination into the realm of the high seas. As other reviewers have pointed out, it is like a role playing game but instead of dungeons and monsters, you get to play a pirate :)

In Merchants and Marauders you get a captain with fixed abilities and a ship, which you can modify and even exchange during the game.

An important factor about gameplay is to note that there’s no final game objective for winning the game. The goal in Merchants and Marauders is to race to accumulate 10 (or more) “glory points” or for those who have played a lot of “Euro Style” games, “victory points”.

Merchants And Marauders – Some Reviews

+ You can be a pirate
+ You can hunt pirates
+ Tons of objectives to complete
+ Astounding battle mechanics
+ High quality components

- Can be a lot of down time between turns
- Somewhat difficult to teach new players (so many rules and so much to do)

As other reviewers have gone into more of the specifics I’ll skip those.

This is a great game – one of the best I’ve played. Word of caution, though – this game has quite a few rules to take in and can be a long game (pushing four hours).

But if you’re serious about board games, this one is a must have.

From what I have heard, Merchants and Marauders is an excellent game only because of the BITS! And the lots and lots of bits you can have. Plus it is quite thematic and will ensure that gameplay is well enjoyed. If you want to check out Merchants and Marauders on Amazon, you can do so by clicking here.

List Price: $ 64.99

Hopefully, you enjoyed this Merchants and Marauders review and will consider adding it to your game collection. Happy gaming!

1960: The Making of the President

Here are a few features inside of this 1960: The Making of the President review.
1960: The Making of the President

  • For 2 players
  • Takes about 90 minutes to play
  • Tons of replay value
  • Historical theme
  • Educational

All elections are turning points, but the presidential election of 1960 holds a special place in American history.

The 1950s had been a period of unparalleled economic growth and US global power. Richard Nixon served as President Eisenhower’s Vice President through most of the period.

Nixon’s humble origins gave him a common touch that appealed to the small town, idyllic America encompassed by the spirit of the 1950s.

John F. Kennedy, was Nixon’s mirror image: charming, Harvard educated and the scion of an American political dynasty.

Kennedy challenged Americans to confront the uncertainties and tumult that were already emerging in 1960. He set his vision not in the past, but on new frontiers.
